The Holy Bible does not just contain the very spoken words of God to humanity, it is the very WORD of God to humanity.
God Established a Relationship with Man
In the book of Genesis (the first book of the Pentateuch), after the Lord God formed man in His own image and likeness, and the woman out of the man, He put them in the garden He had planted. And from here begins the communication between the Creator and His creatures. If you study the book of Genesis attentively, you will understand that from the day God put the man and the woman (Adam and Eve) in His garden, there has been one on one oral communication between God and them.
That’s why in chapter 3: God was asking them, “Where are you?” He came to them for a conversation, but didn’t find them at the place of appointment. The man had to respond from his hiding place.
May you never leave your place of appointment with your Heavenly Father.
But after the fall of man, when he was expelled from the garden, face to face communication with God ceased.
But the oral communication actually continued because God has created man for a relationship.
He took notice of the offering of the sons of Adam; Cain and Abel and showed interest and acceptance towards the offering of Abel but disapproves the offering of Cain. This was done through communication.
A Fatherly Dialogue
Here is what should be described as a family conversation between God and Cain. When Cain was on the verge of perdition, God spoke to him just like a father would speak to the son he loves. When God noticed that Cain was angry because his offering was not accepted, He intervened as a loving Father that He is.
It went thus: I quote; Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.” Genesis 4:6-7
That’s a kind word of admonition from the heart of a true Father.
He spoke to Cain to warn him of his intended plan to murder his brother Abel. And Cain also responded to God.
He spoke to Noah about destruction with flood
He spoke to Abraham about making him into a great nation(Genesis 12:1-9).
He spoke to Isaac confirming His promise to Abraham his father(Genesis 26:1-6).
He spoke to Jacob affirming and re-confirming His promise to Abraham and Isaac his fathers(Genesis 28:10-22)
He spoke to Moses and his elder brother Aaron, about the deliverance of their brothers in Egypt. (Exodus 3-4)
It is in the same way God spoke and still speaks to the prophets, kings, apostles, men and women.
It is these words He spoke to them that He allowed them to write down for all the generations to come.
God has continued to speak and dialogue with us till date. Meet Him in His Book- the Bible.
