This topic is directly coined from the exclamation of apostle Paul, when he revealed his deepest heart’s desire as a servant of God. He cries,
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.”
Philippians 3:10-11
There are many lessons to draw from the above text, but permit me to concentrate on the subject of discussion.
Before Jesus was crucified, during His ministerial activities, there were so many things he said that bothered the Pharisees so much. One of them is, “Destroy this temple (His body) and I will built it up in three days.” “The son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day raised to life.” John 2:19; Luke 9:22; Matt.
Now Jesus is finally crucified and buried as he foretold. It quickly occurs to them that He also said He will rise after three days. They’ve got to do something serious to prevent Him from rising from the grave otherwise all their efforts would have been wasted.
“The next day, the one after  Preparation Day, ( after Jesus has been crucified: emphasis mine) the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”
“Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” Matt. 27:62-65
Upon their request, Pilate authorized them to come up with their best security measures to foil the possible resurrection attempt.
With the authorization from Pilate, they put up solid and well structured preventives to keep Christ in the grave forever. It reads, “So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.” Matt 27:65
Firstly, they brought a very heavy stone and place it to the entrance of the tomb. In order to make it very terrible and a worse scenario for Jesus, upon the heaviness of the stone, it was further marked with a seal (King’s signature) to indicate that the stone must not be touched by anyone accept by the order of the King.  It also portrays the kind of punishment and torture that waits whoever touches it to lift it.
At this point, do you think there is still hope for the Son of Man and His expectant disciples?
Secondly, they stationed the best Roman guards (soldiers) in Israel at the tomb.
The deployment of soldiers and placement of huge stone at the tomb was to achieve four major objectives.
A) The stone:
1) to prevent Jesus’ disciples from stealing away His body and tell the people He has risen from the dead.
2) To keep Jesus from climbing out of the grave because He said He MUST rise from the dead.
B) The Guards
1) to apprehend the disciples of Jesus or whoever that might come and to the tomb to steal the body of Jesus or help Him roll away the heavy stone.
2) to rearrest and kill Jesus again in case He tries to come back to life as He said He must rise from the dead.
When the time finally arrived for God to raise His One and Only begotten Son, Jesus the Christ from the grave as it was decreed, man’s limited ability was clearly displayed. While the limitless and unchallengeable power of the Almighty God took over the whole scene.
They succeeded in killing Jesus because it has been decreed by God that He must die to save the world. Now they want to hold Him down in the grave, contrary to the decree of God that He must rise from the dead. Will they succeed?
The word of God says in Lamentations 3:37” Who can command and have it come to pass if the Lord has not ordained it?”
Simply put, the power of Christ’s resurrection is the power of God.
So, in other words, apostle Paul is yearning to experience the power of God Almighty.
What is the power of God Almighty? It is God’s unlimited divine ability to do anything and to undo anything.
This POWER  is not found any other place. It belongs to God alone. It is unchallengeable, unstoppable and unlimited. That’s why one of God’s supernatural attribute is ‘Omnipotent God’ meaning He is All Powerful God. This means that all power inclusively is found in Him.
Every other so-called powerful creatures derive their powers from God -even satan and his demons.
So with such power being available for Christ, it was impossible for death to hold Him captive.
We read in Mark’s gospel 8:31, “He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.”
In John’s gospel 2:19 Jesus challenges the Pharisees, “Destroy this temple (His body) and I will build it in three days.”
Jesus’s love towards restoring mankind to eternal life made Him not to consider the excruciating agony and gruesome treatment He knew awaits Him. He knows that He must be killed, and He also knows that He must rise again on the third day.
Man may have the power to destroy you, but God has the unlimited power to bring you back to life.
You know that you must die, do you know that you must rise again on the last day?
Jesus had no fear of going to the cross to die for redemption of mankind.
He knew that His Father’s power of resurrection does not fail and can never fail. He knew He would take up His life again. Jesus speaks,
“The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life-only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have the authority to to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from Father.” John 10:17-18
What needs to be resurrected in your life? The power of Christ’s resurrection is available right now to turn any situation around for you.
I pray for you that the irresistible power of Christ’s resurrection will settle the matter in Jesus Name. AMEN. As the Jews were unable to stop Jesus from rising from the grave, so your enemies cannot stop you from rising to your glory and greatness in life. Amen.

The Jews did all they could to keep Him in the grave, but rose from the dead.
